Day Program

Campers awake every day at 7:00 am. All campers, leaders, and Mount Allamuchy staff report to the parade field at 7:45 for a flag raising ceremony. Each day a different site is responsible for properly raising the flags. After the flag ceremony the camp heads to the dining hall for breakfast and then go right to their morning program.

At 12:15 everyone reports to the dining hall for lunch. After lunch, the groups return to their sites for siesta until 2:30, and then head out to start their afternoon programs. The final program ends at 5:00. Groups report back to the parade field by 5:45 for a flag lowering ceremony, and then everyone heads to the dining hall for dinner.

Each group of campers and their adult leaders visit program areas throughout the camp on a rotating schedule. Highlights include:

Our extensive Aquatics area offers swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing, kayaks, funyaks and our 14' iceberg. We also provide daily swimming instruction.

Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) lets campers develop teamwork, communication, trust, self-esteem, problem-solving and decision making skills while having fun. Most of our campers end up doing much more than they thought they were capable of doing.

Climbing and rappelling takes place on man-made climbing walls and natural rock walls.

The Shooting Sports program offers a variety of age appropriate activities including archery, bb guns, and shotguns. Before allowing the campers to shoot, trained Scouts in charge of this area extensively explain the rules of the range. Scores are kept during the week and on Friday the campers who make the minimum score requirement for each shooting area are invited back to participate in a shoot-off.

Ecology exposes campers to the natural wonders of plant and animal life.

Campers 13 and older get to ride All Terrain Vehicles as part of an ATV Safety Institute program.

All campers learn First Aid techniques from our certified health officer.

The Handicraft pavilion offers campers the chance to express their creativity. Campers have many crafts to choose from such as painting, jewelry making, and beading.

Campers are introduced to Outdoor Skills such as knots, compass, flag etiquette and cooking.

Songs and Games are always lots of fun. Kids learn fun camp songs and Camp COLEY traditional songs for the ceremonial on Friday. Fun games are played amongst the groups.
